"Green Zone" has perfect timing. After "The Hurt Locker" wins the Oscar, out comes this release taking place in Iraq with Matt Damon as a warrant officer with the US army in Iraq to "find weapons and save lives." It gets a little more complicated than that as he stumbles on a conspiracy that involves digging for secrets from Amy Ryan and Gregg Kinnear is a Washington official barking into a phone ordering to take him out.
We all still miss the "Bourne" movies, so the director Paul Greengrass has teamed up with Damon to make another fast paced action film with split second editing. But the trailer is so fast that it's hard to tell what this movie is about or what really makes it special. The helicopters and gun fights featured could be scenes from two dozen films in the last five years and I wouldn't know the difference. Still, that was my reaction to the trailers for the "Bourne" films the first time.
Opening March 12, 2010, Verdict: Wait for the Critics
